UnitedHealthcare Publishes Online Listing
of Accredited Imaging Providers
Winter 2009
As part of UnitedHealthcareOnline.com, a resource for physicians and other health care professionals, a listing of accredited imaging providers is now available. The detailed listing provides the names and addresses of the accredited providers, as well as the area in which they are accredited and the corresponding expiration dates.
According to Lori West, Operations Manager of Radiology Programs for UnitedHealthcare, "We are excited to announce that a listing of accredited imaging providers who have completed and submitted an application to obtain accreditation now is available. It is important that consumers receive services from facilities whose equipment, technologists and physicians are in compliance with established accreditation performance standards."
Effective within the fourth quarter of 2009, UnitedHealthcare will require outpatient imaging sites and providers who bill on a CMS/HICF 1500 or its electronic equivalent, and perform any of the following procedures — CT, MRI, PET, nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography — to have completed and submitted an application to obtain accreditation as a condition of eligibility for reimbursement. Accreditation applies to global and technical service claims.
To view the listing of accredited providers on UnitedHealthcareOnline.com, visit the main page of the ICAEL, ICANL, ICAMRL or ICACTL division websites and click the appropriate link in the first newsbox. The Imaging Accreditation page of UnitedHealthcareOnline.com, which provides a direct link to UnitedHealthcare's current information about the accreditation mandate, can be found there as well.

*Please Note: Due to discrepancies in the current data, the link to UnitedHealthcare Online's list of accredited providers has been temporarily removed from our website. The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission is currently working with UnitedHealthcare to resolve these discrepancies, and will restore the link when the corrected version becomes available. |
